Film James Bond baru, “Quantum of Solace”, melakukan debutnya di Inggris, Jumat, dengan mencetak rekor penjualan karcis sehari senilai 4,94 juta pound atau 8 juta dolar, distributor Columbia Pictures menyatakan Sabtu. Hasil tersebut mengungguli pemegang rekor sebelumnya “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” dengan nilai box office pembukaan mencapai 4,025 juta pound pada 2005 dan juga hasil penjualan sehari film Bond terakhir, “Casino Royale”, sebesar 2,9 juta pound pada 2006, kata Columbia.

Dalam “Quantum of Solace”, agen mata-mata ulung Inggris (Daniel Craig) sedang dalam misi melintasi Amerika Selatan dan Eropa untuk menghentikan teroris lingkungan dari menguasai sumberdaya alam yang berharga, dan ia ingin mengetahui mengapa wanita yang dicintainya dalam “Casino Royale” tega mengkhianati dirinya. “Casino Royale” merupakan film yang sukses besar dengan box office global yang diraupnya mencapai 594 juta dolar.

Pada hari pembukaannya, Jumat, di Inggris, “Quantum of Solace” diputar pada 542 layar bioskop, disusul dengan debut film itu di AS dan Kanada. Columbia Pictures adalah anak perusahaan Sony Pictures Entertainemnt, unit media dari Sony Corp, Jepang, demikian laporan Reuters.
